As is the case with any tragedy or natural disaster, many people enter the marketplace with the sole intention of making a quick buck. Putting profits over safety, many companies make ridiculous (and scientifically impossible) claims as to the types of products and services available to battle diseases such as COVID-19. The advent and/or expansion of companies looking to capitalize on the COVID-19 pandemic has had the following effects… aside from the glaringly obvious price gouging tactics:
- Most people and established cleaning companies, who claim to now handle infectious diseases as a new service offering, don’t understand the necessary processes to ensuring the eradication of such a lethal pathogen like the novel Coronavirus or other harmful pathogens.
- Many companies are using unproven or unregistered EPA disinfectants that won’t accomplish the task at hand.
- Most companies offering disinfecting services are utilizing equipment that is poorly manufactured and often defective. In many cases, this equipment does not meet the lowest threshold of EPA requirements for proper application. Simply put, companies who use poor equipment and ineffective cleaning solutions cannot offer you any peace of mind when it comes to your own health and safety.
- NOT all electrostatic sprayers are created equally. Since the pandemic, the consumer market has been flooded with products (mostly the handheld variety) that are flat-out ineffective and fall far short of their claims. Most commonly, this has to do with the device being unable to generate a high enough electric output to effectively charge the disinfectant particles so that they behave electrostatically.
RMBC remains vigilant in monitoring the most up-to-date safety, infection control, and cleaning protocols as recommended by global experts, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and our established network of doctors, epidemiologists, manufacturers, and industrial chemical supply companies.
